30 jun 07 ~ celebrated sharafynna's first birthday at loewen gardens, dempsey road. i think i really like the place, it's so berfeeling kampung omputih. a bit hard to get in without transport, but otherwise carpark is free and there's plenty of space to run around. a few quaint shops to explore, if you're an omputih lah, hehe.

meant to go to the free screening of happy feet at the botanics, we were already so very within the vicinity, but looking at the long queue of cars snaking into the botanic car park plus the traffic warden directing us away, we ended up skipping the thing.

we camped out at the peninsula carpark to see if we could catch the ndp rehearsal fireworks, but after waiting for 45 mins and aniq had finished his dinner AND made friends with other kids also camping out to wait for the fireworks, we packed up to head down to another site.

it was the last day of the kallang stadium's existence, and a whole bunch of cheapo sporeans decked the fields across the river to wait for, what else, the fireworks. we're such suckers for fireworks, i swear. anyway, again we waited and waited, and aniq again had run the entire length with yet more newfound friends (who turned out to be izad's relatives!), and the traffic police kept chasing the cars who kept trying to park along the side of the road (tak kasi chan langsung lah!).... izad and jeremy had gone further down to set up their cameras, but thankfully the bevy of bigger children took over my task of running after the lil fella and basically keeping him occupied.

oh and as for the fireworks, for all that waiting, they were rather disappointing, lasting only a few minutes and nowhere near 'spectacular' as promised.

looks like we'll have to wait for the real stuff in august!
